MEDITERRANEAN DREAM

Lapis Lazuli: More Than a Stone, a Traveler Between Civilizations

MEDITERRANEAN DREAM

Bodrum night. The line between sea and sky fades; the navy blue grows heavy, the breeze deposits salt on the dock. A boat in the harbor breathes softly, the coil of an old rope. A single star shines in the middle of the sky as if falling onto the water. "Mediterranean Dream" is born at this very moment: a light settled in the heart of the navy blue, the first line written in the sea's memory book.

At Ocean Jewelry, we bring this scene to life. Here, Lapis is the sea itself: deep, serene, and centuries-old. Its natural pyrite grains vibrate like stardust scattered among the waves. At the center of Lapis sits a 0.15-ct G-color diamond in a bezel setting, capturing and magnifying the light, amplifying and returning the night's solitary star. The 14-karat green gold twists running around the perimeter are reminiscent of old ship ropes; this is how we pay homage to Ocean's maritime heritage in carrying the name. These twists represent not only the rope itself but also the idea of continuity—departures, returns, and waiting—in Bodrum's harbors.

We look at Bodrum's history: the Carian memory etched in the stones of Halicarnassus, the courage of Artemisia, the shadow of the monument that transformed Mausolus's name into a "wonder"... The wind of the castle rising from the shore blends with the present. In designing the "Mediterranean Dream," we evoke all of these layers; we want the ring to be not just the aesthetics of today, but the continuity of the centuries.

How We Work From Inspiration to Box Closure

This ring is not a "rarity" show; it is the product of collective effort.

The biggest thing that distinguishes us from others is this discipline that persistently seeks to do better.

INSPIRATION
DESIGN

  • We think about the scene, draw it, research the material, test it; we decide what to use by trial and error.

STONE
MASTERY

  • Lapis receives a special cut by our award-winning gemstone master. We proceed with respect for the veining and pyrite distribution, preparing a well for the diamond to breathe at the center of the lapis's most intense blue point. (Lapis Mohs 5–6: hard but susceptible to brittleness; no heat shock, no rush.)

GOLD
MASTERY

  • The shank and head are simply assembled from 14-karat green gold. Our alloy is 58.5% pure gold (585‰) with silver-based additives; we do not use nickel. The rope spool first draws the wire profile, then rhythmically bends it from both arms. The form does not come out of the mold; it is born through the rhythm of the hand.

Above all our efforts lies the labor of Bodrum: the salt of the wind, the patience of the stones, the inspiration of history and figures. All we do is listen to the voice of inspiration and respond with respect.
